Miss Alexandria's Outstanding Teen 2011 is16-year-old Alyssa Howell, a high school honors student.  She is a published poet and author, active member of her high school drama club, French club and Future Educators of America.

Alyssa was recently inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars and plans to continue her academic career at Gallaudet University where she aspires to specialize in the education of the hearing impaired.

She is an accomplished dancer who is active in ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap.  Alyssa is also a certified scuba diver and pianist.

With over 500 hours of community service, Alyssa's volunteer efforts have included work the the Central Institute for the Deaf, Special Olympics, United States Marine Corps Youth Marathon, Relay for Life, flood relief programs, foster care services, retirement homes, youth mentoring, and building self-esteem in young children.  She also participates in numerous charitable fundraisers annually.
